The Florida-based quintet, St Valentines Massacre, likes to describe their sound as “an epic battle between good and evil,” and upon hearing their MRI debut, ‘Awakening,’ you’ll understand why. Released on June 9, 2009, the group manages to walk the line between classic and modern metal, but refuses to align themselves fully to either genre. The result is an album that shows a group quickly carving out their own niche.

Comprised of members: Tony Rodriguez - Vocals, Tyler Jordan - Guitar, Chris Strykker - Guitar, Alan Olshefski - Bass Guitar, and J. Blaque - Percussion, St Valentines Massacre originally came together in the latter part of 2005 through new and old friendships combined with the desire to write the music that they all longed to hear.

Several indie releases have preceded ‘Awakening,’ including such titles as ‘Of Heroes and Gods,’ ‘Beneath Crimson Skies,’ and ‘The Eulogy Sessions,’ while the group also honed their live show, by gigging incessantly. In the process, St Valentines Massacre has shared the stage by such renowned metal acts as 36 Crazyfists (Roadrunner), A Day To Remember (Victory), The Absence (Metal Blade), Phoenix Mourning (Metal Blade), Throwdown (Trustkill), Hell Within (Lifeforce), and It Dies Today (Trustkill), among many others – as well as playing the Ernie Ball stage locally on The Warped Tour in '07. Rodriguez describes SVM’s live show as “If one thing can be expected, it's a lot of energy. We take pride in the performance we put on and are constantly making it even better. We believe that our fans deserve more than just great music, they also deserve a great performance.”

As a result, St Valentines Massacre has amassed an army of loyal fans that are known as ‘The Condemned,’ while also attracting tens of thousands of fans and over 600,000 song plays on the MySpace.com social network. SVM has also obtained over 4,000 fans on their mailing list, and over 500 fans as part of their street team. Accolades have also been steadily sprouting up, including Roadrunner Records A&R representative Monte ("I like that this band has singing and melody - [“Nightmare Theory”] has a cool chorus”), as well as Corrapollo Lyvewyre Records Owner, Charlie Thomas ("St. Valentines Massacre is that HEAT!”), and 98 Rock DJ Lauren O’Neil (“Witnessing St. Valentines Massacre live is like being on the receiving end of a champagne enema for your ears”).

After touring the United States in support of 'Awakening,' St Valentines Massacre is currently writing their sophomore album and preparing to get back on the road.
